I’ve nothing against Holmes I think he has been good but he was at Warrington on what I can only assume was a good contract. I was merely stating he will probably be on an inflated contract with Leigh that comes to an end this year as he signed when we were a championship team. We would have had to pay “overs” to get the signature.

I’m assuming Tom Briscoe to be on inflated wages as he signed when we were in the championship, I would imagine there is quite a few who are paid over their market value, (Davis, Holmes. Hughes, Hardaker) who will naturally wash out and free up some cap space. I can’t see see many of these getting another contract with us. Nakabuwai would do a job for Bradford or Featherstone, with Chamberlain going out aswell I’d agree it looks like some business is being done as Macintosh won’t be on Briscoe money.

Reading this Salford are in a much worse financial mess than currently thought. Nearly 1.7M in debt to the council and been outstanding 13 years already. No wonder the council have taken so long to make a decision as it would be the end of Salford and the council don’t want their name on that and will never see any of that debt repaid. I don’t see how the club can survive this season, according to some fans I know they are well down on season tickets this year and fear the worst, they are expecting more departures. I just don’t see a happy ending to this story.

Huddersfield sign Tom Burgess from 2025

Was nailed on to sign for Warrington and link up with Sam, clearly Sam has seen enough of the Warrington culture and told his brother not to bother. -
This is a good point and has been mentioned before, half the excitement in sport is the peril of either being at the top of the table or at the bottom fighting for top league status, this process is that convoluted that fans will be wating until a paper exercise is completed at the end of each year just to know who plays where.

If a team like Salford can be 8th in these new rankings then the whole thing is nonsense. IMG have ballsed up what could have been a great process for the game by not allowing a Grade B to be relegated and replaced by another Grade B club, especially with all the talk of the Super 8’s potentially making a return. It would have atleast given Grade B clubs something to target other than a spreadsheet and it would have given London a better shot.
