  1. A really interesting career path in that he was playing international RU only three years after playing amateur RL. Hopefully my impression is off the mark but it feels like they’re starting virtually from scratch (again)
  2. Flicked between all three and timed the Leeds-Huddersfield game just in time for the comeback. Surely having 300k people watching three games is no worse than 300k people watching one game? There’s no finer sight than going on the Sky EPG and seeing Super League dominating the schedules in a manner that even football can rarely manage. Love having the chance to flick between different games as they’re ongoing. Also having 6 different kick off slots over a weekend would be a nightmare for match-going fans and fixture schedulers alike.
  3. Plenty of people still connect with Lancashire, including myself even though some folk would have you believe I’ve never lived there having been born (well after) 1974. I do feel it would be a bit more of a step back though and the hard work has to go in with the other federations to make the internationals work.
  4. Flawless intel Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction!
  5. Like I posted previously, I had more 10 years of day to day experience of it from 2004-2015 and the Saints/Latics crossover absolutely wasn’t an accident. I know, I was boozing with him after the game on Saturday
  6. And the ones from St Helens find it much easier to support a Wigan team when that team sings about hating Wigan rugby (genuinely). I saw both sides of it on a daily basis for a decade and still didn’t get my head around it.
  7. Esteemed? I’m having that one I have an extended group of about 15 BWFC season ticket holders, all of whom have RL loyalties split between Leigh, Wigan and Warrington. Frequently see RL gear at games, including the English, Irish and Scottish variations of the fabled RLWC21 hats the other week. Very much a relic of the poor relationship between Latics and Warriors. I used to witness it on a daily basis and the whole thing is beyond weird. Born and bred Wiganers supporting Saints because their dad had a gripe about Maurice Lindsay.
  8. If they can make it happen with a little more notice then it could turn in to a terrific annual event (and help consolidate support on that side of London)
  9. Ah, fair enough. I work with Rewards4 on a different platform and they have a live API between the two, but I guess that might not be on the new site yet. Worth making sure you’re using the same email address for both, I suppose.
  10. Make sure you’ve gone in to your R4RL account and nominated Grand Final tickets as the item that you’re saving for
  11. Is there a Switzerland option? I went to the WCC and knew for the good of the game that Wigan needed to win, but there was no chance I was actively going to want them to win.
  12. Partly yes as they can’t use the seats anyway. Partly because they didn’t it in other stands for Latics to hide the seats that they can’t give away.
  13. Fair enough, looks as though that only changed last season with a resultant increase in allocation. As mentioned above, the DW has the advantage of being so badly designed at that end that there will be rafts of empty seats at that end regardless which then negates the issues previously mentioned.
  14. Except the away end at the DW is unreserved seating for RL games. Saints fans queue up before the turnstiles open and then do the RL equivalent of sticking towels on sunloungers to try and save the seats for their mates. Similar story in the South Stand for home fans. I should know, I spent 10 years printing the tickets. (It was reserved seating for the World Club Challenge, but that was a whole other set up) Also I should add that the North Stand has 5,400 seats yet only a maximum of 4,800 are allowed in with reserved seating and even fewer for unreserved so that makes things easier (might only be 4,600 now based on Bolton’s allocation a few weeks ago)
  15. With I think now half a dozen holding the role in the space of 3-4 years. Make of that what you will. I think the polite way would be to say differing levels of tolerance.
  16. It’s been tried before and didn’t work (not just at LSV, I’ve witnessed it at a few SL grounds) and it’s just a foreign concept. Post below nails it. (I must admit football away games are reserved seating 99% of the time and very few people take notice, but that’s also with everybody stood up in a seated area, blocking aisles and cramming 29-30 people on a 28 seat row because people are determined to sit together even if they bought separately so not exactly an example to follow!)
  17. Unreserved seating so 10% left empty would explain most of those. It’s quite a ’zoomed’ camera position at LSV so every empty seat is more visible in comparison to other grounds with a higher gantry etc. Wigan had a good chunk of the East Stand too so I certainly won’t be criticising their numbers, even though plenty of them would have been able to walk home after the game.
  18. Non attending season ticket holders more than likely, particularly the ones near the halfway line
  19. Good crowd and we didn’t concede 50. That’s about as positive as it got. Regardless of injuries, I thought too many of the remaining experienced players weren’t too keen on sticking their hand up when the tough work needed doing. Obviously need some bodies back but need a general improvement overall.
  20. 1,500ish Leigh fans. We had loads of room around us whereas last year it was chocker. I’m a little sceptical about the overall figure as the South was far from full, and the main stand looked much quieter than previously, even accounting for a few of those moving over to the East Stand. All got to be justified somewhere so I guess there might have been a few season ticket holders away on holiday etc. The shuttle buses from the Trafford Centre were busy again and are a great initiative
