  1. The reasons will be so that players can 'choose' to rejoin and play for thier clubs at the weekend ....and also to allow weekend NRL to continue?
  2. Western get Cumbria and Wales then Warren get London and south east
  3. Eastern Superchargers Vs Western Brave Personally I'm still convinced the historic Roses thing is something that can be worked with
  4. Dwyer is either brilliant or stupid....he swings between the two....often in the same bloody set! I guess his last tackle runs from dummy half look brilliant when they pay off but they can't overall be the best percentage play (if someone were to statistically look into it)
  5. Now come on Dave .....we are in it for the drama more than the technicalities! And I'm terms of too-ing and fro-ing it had the lot Probably helps that I quite like both teams so didn't have a team I wanted to lose Your mob in the crowd along with the away support made it come across fantastically well on telly too
  6. Superb post If that side is out then I'll be very excited to see the match
  7. Is Corentin Le Cam back in league? Seem to remember he had a very good second half in the last test held in France
  8. Maybe they need to be reminded of one of the key arguments people use for including French teams in SL despite no French RL fans paying for a SKY subscription
  9. If that happens then I think that may well be it for me with supporting the French mid season test We don't see England do it ...there is no way say George Williams or Newman will let themselves get pulled by Wire or Leeds The French players themselves need to call out any bull**** and say they need to play for their country That first 17 is a very competitive side that in France will give England a very good fixture If any French clubs want to spoil it they don't deserve the support of holding a test in their country (and the subsequent support for their sport in their country )
  10. Isn't our event the Challenge Cup? The union equivalent (Thier Prem cup) is more or less a second team event now (well until the final.....and even then the Worcester win over Irish that I went to was not a sell.out at Brentford) I'm all for having Roses / rep game as an addition though
  11. Don't need the badge - all the dads take it in turn to regularly do the linesman job at matches if one of the other dads isn't already doing it ....the coach of each team referees usually - it's under 12s In addition for the team I .... - Wheel the goals out and help set them up - probably 20 minutes job each training and home match at the begining and end - Mark out the pitch for all pre home games . 30 minute job night before game - I coordinate the home pitch liaison with schools (ongoing in year and lengthy) - Collect and drop offs in my own car for kids who can't get a lift (usually two at least a week) - Take orders for all kit, order the personalisation, sort money and deliveries ...(Hours and hours that takes through preseason) -Step in as assistant coach when the coach/ assistant away ...in reality I am not a soccer man so it's setting up cones etc Overall - I do plenty to support / volunteer in the amateur game my kids are involved in ....I practice what I preach And yes if the main coach/assistant were to leave I strongly suspect I would need to take the badges and do that myself ....and I would unflinchingly On a separate note I watch amateur RL down here and there regularly isnt always a Linesmen.....I have never once moaned about it......partly as I am aware I would be a very good candidate to do it myself if I wasn't committed to my kids activities I have stated on here before when I retire I fully intend to get my RL badges and ref at the weekends (truthfully)
  12. I wasn't fully having a pop at him...I agree with the sentiment ....however it needs people to have a 'can do' attitude too
  13. I have never and never will give stick to refs as a viewer of amateur sport (umpires on cricket too)....had the odd moment as a player but not too bad When watching top pro.sport I'd say I feel differently .....if I see a mistake I'm happy.to call it I'd never advocate abuse /personal stuff or swearing at refs.....a loud moan or boo though I'm not against (again in pro.sport.only)
  14. Maybe Tommy....I am sensitive to it currently though .... My kids soccer coach started the team 6 years ago - he does a fabulous voluntary job (organises matches, training, exrtra holidays trainings, sorts pitches , constantly on SPOND chasing people, helps lifts etc). Recently he has two sets of parents newish to the team giving him verbal grief / anguish ....linked to the mums of the kids not getting enough time on the pitch (according to them) . The way they spoke to him was unbelievable....the 'expectation' of service wand entitlement is crazy...for a lovely bloke who gives a huge amount of time free for thier kid. These are two parents who NEVER arrive early to set up goals / pitch markings etc....leave as the coach and some of the parents do it (I do volunteer and help.him loads btw as well as making a point of giving him end of year presents etc) Rambling ....but my point is that these 'voluntary' roles rely on exactly that...if people are not getting involved themself I struggle to see how they should be allowed to bemoan the lack of volunteers that helps they or their kids enjoy Maybe I'm wrong but as I say I am currently riled from the weekend
  15. Did it make you angry enough to train for a reffing badge and run the line in future ?
  16. The always run out of Muscle fit Large very quickly and
  17. Yep agree after we watched as live today My game of the season so far. Fast paced, lots of skill and lots of nicely crafted tries Little Leon Hayes reminds me of Burrow so much ...great talent
  18. Like I have said since before the first game this season is likely to be VERY damaging for the Broncos brand Hate to say this for the very first time but Hughes needs to leave
  19. Ha ha....I was there for the Wire game....it was the quietest at the start I've heard for years....at times it picked up but Wire drowned them out as they crept ahead But they had the balloon guy back in the south stand so my kids were happy
