Excellent away win in the end UTT.

18-12 to Hunslet at HT, conceded 18 points in 14 mins after being 12-0 up.
-
Totally agree with this post, the better team won but it should have been by a greater margin. Surely its not acceptable to concede two walk in tries out wide both conceded on the same wing / centre. We were pinged 4 times for obstruction not sure whether it was poor decision making by us or poor refereeing.

What is going on, we knew the shortfalls from last season regarding size, pace and strength. Recruitment hasn't been good enough. Its no good just turning up for the derby games then the disasters of the first two league games. This season is already over but I will still go on supporting my home Town team. UTT

6-0 down after 1 min.

If Sammut plays to his full ability, and our defence is up for it who knows what may happen.
-
What's the score?
-
Jordan Burns break happened in front of me, there was support both inside and outside, trouble was there was also Haven players in between that's why Jordan tried to dummy his way to the line.
-
First game of the season and thoroughly enjoyed it. Could have been 20 points up at half time, sammuts try from the kick off was sublime, a pity he was involved in their first two trys but that's what you get with Jerrard, we are a better team when he plays. Haven won the game in the 3rd quarter of the game where we struggled to match their physicality.
-
The Haven game? What's he banned for?
-
Appears to have been a better second half ( I imagine this was playing down the famous slope). Congrats to Wath Brow for being the last team standing in the cup. Does this tell us something about the current state of Rugby League in Cumbria?
-
Well I have my wish Townie 987, welcome back to Town Mr Sammut.
-
Remember beating them at home when they had a star studded team, if my memory is correct from that team we signed Phil Mckenzie and Kurt Sorenson coached town after playing for Haven.
-
A marquee signing would give everyone a lift
-
Fully agree with this last post. The signing of a player like Sammut would in my opinion give everyone a lift, can't say I am looking forward to next season, hope I am wrong.
-
I would like Sammut to return, will still do a job in div 1 and help bring on the young players.
-
How expensive are imports? Is there no funding available from the RFL to employ them in the community?
-
Can't say I am enthralled with the signings so far for 2024 when compared to the likes of Oldham, Hunslet, Rochdale who have all strengthened. What is wrong with signing a couple of imports, have we not got contacts or funds to achieve this? As already stated why have we signed a player who as only played a handful of games at his previous clubs?
-
Apologies for my ignorance is he newcomer and what position does he play?
-
Really have they done a good job at Newcastle, how many times have they reinvented themselves? I think it's disgraceful the way RL heartland clubs such as Town, Rochdale, Oldham, Hunslet are being treated.

Teams to be relegated to League one.
town blue replied to Peter Winthorpe's topic in Workington Town
Hope this happens with the top of west v top of east in a play off final. What will changes to promotion / relegation to / from super league make next season, all sorts of tick boxes required isn't there before a team is considered suitable? -
How do you arrive at that conclusion, too tight to call any 1 from 4 could be relegated with Barrow in the best position to survive- I can't see all 3 teams below them winning.
-
Unfortunately like this country rugby league in the lower divisions is broken. May be its time the championship clubs threatened to go it alone, separate from the super league and start a new league. How about playing in winter again with a break about Christmas time?
-
2 Teams from top 4 will be in division 1 next season (with Oldham probably favourites, if they don't go up this season) plus the 2 sides getting relegated will make this league even harder to get out of. Hence some serious strengthening will be required - I would like to see some decent imports signed rather than the usual merry go round journeymen.

How can the touch judge on the far side disallow a try and the tj right in front award the try. Must admit not sure on the offside rule in this case, but the ball definitely came off the Crusaders player before town player touched down. IMO both sides were poor with the game littered with mistakes and atrocious refereeing.
