Gutsy effort by our boys today against a powerfully quick side! ,1st half thought the first 2 tries in 7 mins where soft by our standards and left most batley fans fearing the worst, but once we settled we got dug in and gave wakey a real battle, and we where unlucky not to be ahead at half time, 2nd half I have to question the decision to take 2 points early on we should have pushed on and gone for the try it was never going to be a 2 point game, also we gave too many penalties which lead to wakey scoring points I think it was their second try second half where we gave a penalty away on the 5th tackle leading to a try criminal, also Morton dropping the ball gave them points, and how the guy managed to score over the line with 4 men on him is beyond me, like I said at the beginning a gutsy effort but take out the penalties and mistakes and it would have been a lot closer! Still proud of our boys no disgrace in defeat!

Tough game in very tough conditions today! Nothing between the teams and It was hard for both teams to make any ground unless it was through penalties, what I don't understand is why on 3 occasions we didn't kick and tapped the ball taking at least 4/5tackles to get as far as what we could have had we kicked it, I also agree with the comment about the kick offs same kick all day, in conditions like that why not put it across the ground make it hard to pick up! Todays game was about the forwards battle which I would say that batley won our second half defence was excellent, we did get into some good position to score today and probably with better game management we could have, trying to barge over from 3 or 4 yards in heavy conditions was always going to be difficult and I thought our boys got carried away and a bit panicky near the fax line, hence when we did score it was from a brilliant ball from kear to Burton it looked easy! Our boys gave everything today in horrendous conditions in a game which went down to the wire and could have gone either way! So dispite the loss I say we'll done boys!

A few cynical comments on here despite it only being the second game of the season! OK so we lost!! after 2 tough games against fev and Cas when everyone was singing their praises! have you all forgotten dewsbury had a week off before this game and we had a short turn around, conditions where tough again this week the boys aren't supermen and I'm sure they do feel it, and I'm also sure nobody is more disappointed than them! So get off there backs and see where we are 10 games from now and then see if there's anything to tear them to pieces for!!

Think putting nobody is a bit unfair I'm sure they didn't go out there to lose and a bit cynical of you! there was plenty of effort from all the players! -

Real shocker today! Reminded me of last night's Cas game! We had plenty of field position especially the first half but no end product! We just didn't seem at the races today, once all the hussle and bussle started I think for some of our players the game plan went out of the window and the mentality was to hurt as many dewsbury players as possible! What's disappointing is the conditions weren't great today which is usually better for our boys when it comes to grinding out a game, I also think that Leaky should have had more time on the field today it was the only time we had any spark! Dewsbury will enjoy this today and fair play to them, but for batley this game needs to be put to bed quickly as we need to move on as it's a lot tougher game next week!

The boys gave it there all today hard to decipher SL from CH great first half a bit of a replay from last week with Cas scoring at the death and early in the first half, no disgrace for our boys a couple of mishaps in front of there line second half instead of points and it could, have been more exciting, proud of the boys today no shame in the defeat! Cas will be relieved they got thru the game, on to the league now which is more important to our guys!

Walshaw! put in the middle today outstanding tackling as usual nothing went past him as big as they where Kevin paid him a great compliment after the game wishing they had signed him earlier! Burton think he was on crack today loads of carries! Manning! The usual animal!

Fev at the fox's pt 2 the league game
The scrim reaper replied to Batley Bob's topic in Batley Bulldogs
Fev will be out for revenge this time round and will be on a high after last week beating wakey, it looks like it's going to be tough conditions again this week so could be another low scoring affair, let's hope last week's tussle took something out of fev, and the boys can turn them over again and get the 2pts -

Think mokko will have to come up with some new plays for this one! seeing as linners probably knows all of ours inside and out! An interesting game really! especially if it's tough conditions our boys are the masters of grind! I'd love us to get a result, it will be tough fingers crossed but in reality Championship v SL rarely springs any surprises these days!

How ironic! Linners back at the mount so soon, and possibly an upset on the cards, only thing is linners won't need any spies he knows just about everything about batley already, hopefully there will be a good following from Cas fans to put some cash in the pot!

I listened on radio Leeds sounded to me that batley had more than their fair share of possession on the Sheffield line and all I heard continually was the old story of it's so and so trying to barge over! and Sheffield defending everything batley threw at them, and when Sheffield had the ball down our end they where continually throwing the ball from side to side and breaking batley down I understand they had a couple lucky tries but sounds to me from what I heard our only option yet again near there line was hopeless one man rugby with no other attacking options which always seems to be an issue for us!
