I disagree with most on here on how big a job it will be to turn Hull FC around. Most of their team has gone or out of contract at the end of the season leaving a almost blank canvass and a full playing budget to rebuild with. If they can appoint the right coach and get signings in key position's right a half decent half back to go alongside Trueman also a Hooker and fullback and build around that. We have seen that FC look to have plenty of quality coming through the ranks who will make there transition into the first team over the next few years. There is no reason why given a bit of fortune on getting the right signings can't be competing for the playoffs with in two to three years.

Would be a very good move for Hull but a gamble for Rowley. Hull need someone who can get value for money in the transfer market, someone players would want to play for and someone who can get the best out the players, Rowley fits the bill perfectly. I'd like to see how Rowley can operate with a big budget because he works wonders with a tight one.

I think it's great opportunity for both him and your club. He is a complete professional who's approach to the game on and off the field is outstanding and will be a asset to any clubs coaching staff. He is arguably one of the cleverest people in Rugby and has a lot more to offer the game long after his playing days. For him it's a opportunity to go back to the club where it all started and help develop the next batch of Leeds legends.

Absolute legend and a true professional, always well spoken and extremely positive in everything he says, his on field attributes speak for themselves. Will miss the way carrys out of his own half more effectively than any of our props, its been a pleasure to see him in red and white these last few years. As for Rovers we are apparently replacing Hall with Davis which is a great bit of business and certainly improves our speed. Been a Rovers fan it seems strange a truly world class player coming to the end of his career is leaving us for a last payday rather than the other way around, maybe a sign of how far we have come as a club (and maybe where Leeds are now as a club).

The difference between this defeat and your previous hammerings, is that the boys put plenty of effort in and deserve a great deal if credit. Them very young lads must wonder what had hit them when the likes of Hurrell was running full on at them (must be like being hit by a bus) but they kept getting back up and giving it there all . Fc need to get some experienced players in just to steady the ship and not break these very promising young players they have.

If I was from Lancashire i don't think I'd want to shout about it either.

A little info about the East , West split for the two Hull clubs HKR actually started in the West of the city and actually played down the boulevard before fc did. FC played from a few different venues and even had a period of playing out of East Hull. HKR eventually saw the light and moved to the better side. Also the first kit colours FC wore was cherry and white stripes in there very early years.

The Reality of the IMG Grading System
up the robins replied to DemonUK's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Rovers got the big backers after promotion to super league and would probably of been nowhere near our club had we not got there. We have had a very steady backing from our saviours Neil and Rob who have steadily built our club over a couple of relegation and promotion battles. My point is why would anybody invest below super league level when the whole system is skewed against anyone been able to meet the criteria of a A grade. Also people say about it not been a success outside the North! I'm sure it was mentioned that in the London squad that faced us there was 13 home grown players. I think that is an amazing achievement and one that puts all us Northern hot bed of talent clubs to shame as none of us even come close to that. I'm not certain but could the reason Newcastle have gone the way they have been down to the owner seeing no way of achieving the criteria to progress and hence why waste his time. -
The Reality of the IMG Grading System

The last decade has seen the emergence of two new teams challenging the established top few. Both Hkr and Leigh are huge success stories of the last couple of years and both built from good investment from promotion from championship. Sometimes relegation can help a team rebuild and change business plans and the way clubs approach things, rather than sitting safe in a nothing to play for bottom half sl. We saw the demise of more teams under franchises than new teams and over the last few years there seems to be an emergence of new teams outside of the m62 corridor in the the lower leagues. We spend to much time putting our great sport down when we should be shouting from the rooftops how good it is, yes it has its faults but so does every sport. -
It's crazy talk out there but the giveaway in this one is the 2.65 million, what exactly would they be buying other than a lease running out and a the Name of the club. I do hope there is truth in investment, its good for the city to have two competitive teams and helps both teams having a healthy rivalry. Would love to see us both challenging the top teams and possible all Hull final, as long as we win (again).

Hull FC offer Tex Hoy to other SL clubs…
up the robins replied to Old Frightful's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
The same Tony Smith who signed Vete, Simms and Takairangi as our big import signings very similar signings to his three big Hull import signings this year. I'd maybe keep him away from deciding who to bring in. -

For London a deal in which Hull pay half his wages may be worth a punt. Looks like Hull need the quata space and doubtful anyone else will come in for him so avoids a full pay off. -

Sorry worzel got to disagree with the no promotional relegation argument, do you think when we was in the championship had we not got promoted into super league we would ever have got any where near meeting the criteria for a A licence? Not a chance we would have had neither the crowds or investment needed, we took our chance when promoted and built off the back of it. Why should we prevent others from ever been able to achieve what we have at Rovers. Having seen our fare share of relegation battles it does generate great crowd interest at the end of the season for the clubs involved and keeps clubs on there toes to the very last game. -
I get what you say about some blow out scores, but it kept the super league teams on their toes fighting to be competitive for the whole season because there was always that risk of relegation and gave the championship teams that dream of big time rugby and a welcome boost of money from fixtures with super League teams. While not been ideal for me two teams ourselves and Leigh have transitioned from yoyo clubs to challenging for honours in top flight and have proven promotion and relegation can work. London earned their place in sl this year and do seem to be moving forward as a club. Promotion probably came a year or two earlier than they expected but the team that faced us this weekend had 13 homegrown players in their squad that is amazing not one other team in sl can come close to that and shows London are obviously doing something very right down their, to have that many homegrown players in a place that is not renowned for been a hotbed of rugby league talent. I think London will find it hard under img to get a A grade to get back in sl which is a shame because this is the sort of Team we need to build into a supervleague team.

I am a big fan of some kind of promotion/relegation, for me the middle 8s with the million pound game were very entertaining giving some teams there best attendances of the season and a money earner at least for all clubs involved. Where is the incentive for the likes of fc to strengthen with no threat of relegation they will just limp to end of season and start again next year. You can guarantee if there was a threat of relegation through a 8s comp fc would be snapping up new signings instead Pearson will save his money to pay off loans. Been a fan of a team that has seen promotion and the heartache of relegation I look at how the new img setup would of affected us when in the championship, very few people would have backed Rovers to get where we are today competing for the top four with sell out crowds. We got comments like Hull won't be able to sustain two super league clubs the ground isn't good enough amongst other naysayers. Because of making our way into super league we where than in a position to build a new north stand invest in second team setups and take the next steps into building what he have. No championship club can achieve this with out achieving super league even yo yoing for several seasons while building there club. It would be very easy for us as a club to say we've made it now let's protect our position and bring up the drawbridge but think that would be wrong. We need to encourage teams to challenge for super league status while also competing in a strong championship.

I believe we have reduced the away allocation and used it for ourselves.

On the other side of things we have a board which has abilty to provide materials and skills cheaper than the going rate and possibly a business loan at favourable rates to the club
