An Ashes Tour Itinerary For A New Era

For something outside the box.... Week day order being Saturday to Friday Game 1 v Qld Country Origin in Townsville (Wk 1 - Saturday night) Game 2 v NSW Country Origin in Coffs Harbour (Wk 1 - Thurs eve) Game 3 v Australia 1st Test in Brisbane (Wk 2 - Friday) Game 4 v Oceana Invitational in Western Sydney (Wk 3 - Wed eve) Game 5 v Australia 2nd Test in Melbourne (Wk 4 - Friday) Game 6 v Australia 3rd Test in Sydney (Wk 5 - Friday) Notes; Both Country Origin squads to have fringe Test players involved. Saturday night game in Townsville to allow for wider NQ attendance Option to make it a North Qld Origin team to attract more local interest. Thursday night game in Coffs Harbour to allow GB suitable recovery and travel time. Late week game also allows for potential 'long weekend' attendees in a coastal location. Oceana Invitational to include Kiwis and Kumuls. Two weeks between Tests 1 and 2 One week between Tests 2 and 3 Let the constructive (or destructive ) criticism begin -
With apologies to Cheap Trick Old foes reignite rivalry. https://www.qrl.com.au/news/2024/03/01/australia-v-great-britain-rivalry-resumes-in-police-test/?fbclid=IwAR3Xw0NbSUaLaj6UizKw01wIPyN_xtqX1rnTtc-b5fmWDzjSZ0Xq5NH8B44 Cue the police and rugby league related puns Like when in defence on their try line does one say to another ......... " Don't stand, .. don't stand so, ..... don't stand so close to me"

It will be interesting to see what the mix of the crowd will be in Vegas. Aussies, Kiwis, Poms, Polynesians, Yanks, Canucks maybe.....possibly the odd Frenchy too !

Liverpool Lizards Pre-season

Do you have any relationship with the Liverpool Lions RLFC ? -
With most new countries only having a small pool of players to select a national team from, I wonder if a next level of geography aligned representation could be a benefit to individuals, associations and the game as a whole. For instance, teams selected to represent; * Scandinavia / Nordic Countries * Balkans / Baltic States * Mediterranean / Southern Europe * Eastern Europe * Central Europe * Western Europe (Excluding France) * British Isles (Domestic comp players in Wales, Scotland and Ireland) Having another tier of representative games could assist the game grow in Europe whilst adding an extra layer of combined regional support. England still has counties competing at lower levels of the game and Australia has had various steps for a player to reach their representative zenith (e.g. Cairns, North Qld, Country, Queensland). Obviously other areas could look at this option as well, but I see Europe as its test point. Pie in the sky I know .... but perhaps a variant of it may work.

Just a quick heads up re the modification of the now retitled International Rugby League forum. John has kindly amended it to highlight the expansion and development aspects of our international game. Aimed primarily at frontier territories but obviously inclusive of existing and entrenched nations if involved with a frontier country or region. E.g. France v Kenya. Feel free to populate with news, stories, ideas or opinions on the game from Canada to Columbia to Cameroon to Ukraine to Cook Islands - and everywhere in between
