2024 attendance thread
Rugbyleaguesupporter replied to N2022's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
I really enjoy going to Headingley, but the North stand looks poor on TV- it sounds and looks much poorer on tv now as a stadium. -
Sport requires highs and lows. In any league system you sometimes have little to play for some seasons, in other seasons lots. In league one football, teams 8 to 18 have not much to play for. (Probably definitely nothing with 2 games to go) That's sport- not every year will be exciting

In a league system, some games don't matter that much towards the end. So what? You showcase the 3 or 4 that do and the other 2 occur- which could be good, stress free matches for those watching

Have we considered that value of RL deal is much more about whether Sky and BT are battling for broadband subscribers rather than quality on pitch? As for gap- in 2004 ish we had numerous 70 plus beatings- I think standards fairly comparable? The game has changed though- more structured

I read that Gladiators contestant, Finlay Anderson, played rugby league for Scotland- do we know what level?

I presume you could keep parts of current ground? I was thinking how council could get money back. All a mess really!

Super League Coverage 2024
Rugbyleaguesupporter replied to Dave T's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
I'm really enjoying Sky coverage. Happy with 2 or 3 on a Friday- provides choice without saturation. Don't miss Wells at video screen. Woods, Wilson excellent additions. Good to hear different voices. Only downside is video ref and the extensive use of it and poor match direction at some of the non exclusive Sky games -
Random thought- if Old Trafford is redeveloped with a new build- could they turn current Old Trafford into 20k stadium that Salford could play in (like Etihad campus) and sell AJ Bell to Sale? Unicorns and all that I know

Issue is that Sky has 2 spare channels- Arena and Mix for 6 months of the year. While Sky could launch another channel they have the following content: Darts, boxing, rugby union, basketball, netball and tennis/ cricket where there are 2 events at once. Difficult to squeeze the above onto one channel. Also having a league channel highlights Sky lack of rugby union content- which I don't think they want to highlight We will get our own Streaming section though in summer- along with EFL football and tennis.

On minor point, man city v chelsea will be on main event. Cas v wigan was only on main event if it kicked off at 3pm- the Sky listings will update
