1922 cup final date

Recommended Posts

100 years ago Rochdale Hornets reached and won there only ‘challenge cup’ final beating Hull at Headingley 10-9 in front of a record crowd for a rugby league game. It was the last final under the ‘northern union cup’ banner.

I have noticed that many references to the game on the web, as well as John Huxley’s wonderful book on the history of finals has the date of the game as May 6th.  May 6 1922 was a wednesday. The actual date of the game was Saturday April 29th.

Important to point this out as the 100th anniversary of the greatest day in the clubs history is approaching on Friday.  It would be a shame to miss the actual date as a result of what is probably a clerical error.
