Brits in the NRL: 2024 Edition
DoubleD replied to Futtocks's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Pryce had loads of issues with his game that he needed to iron out, which is why he wasn't an automatic starter for the Giants. He's exciting but raw and it's no surprise that he's not in a position to command an NRL starting spot. 12 months development in another system will do him good to prep him -
It really just highlights the lack of quality wingers coming through at the Rhinos. It’s 10 years since Handley came through and no one of note since. The fact we’re using salary cap on him next year is disappointing but merely a reflection of where Leeds are as a club

The NRL Round 7 Thread
DoubleD replied to THE RED ROOSTER's topic in The Australian Rugby League Forum
Gold Coast just don’t have the mental resilience to get over the line. Their goal line (and general) defence is shocking. Foran showed why he is still one of the best halves in the comp. The Titans will be livid about the Manly try on half time, not only was there an obstruction in there but Saab threw the pass about 3 metres forward to Turbo. No wonder Foran was blowing up -

Priceless -
No, he hasn’t

This doesn’t make sense. On your basis that it doesn’t matter cos they can’t get relegated, then they might as well have kept them even though they’re conceding 50 points a game. Instead Hull are looking to get rid to bring in replacements to improve their situation

I do wonder whether Schuster will be the next Dave Taylor. All the ability and potential but without the work ethic and dedication. He is never a half though. -

This comment made me laugh....... “But if the fruit gets too tempting right now and they go to the best offer, he could be playing for Salford in about three years.” -

Thought Sivo was struggling in the game a little. He didn't do much wrong, perhaps a knock. Talagi looked anonymous, felt sorry for Brown. Asi is certainly much better. The Eels forwards need a boot up the backside, it feels like things have gone a bit stale there -

Don't think the list is that bad, most of those come back this round or next. -

He probably needs more game time since coming back from an ACL and to get accustomed to the change of setup but he's definitely better than Pauga -
Hull FC offer Tex Hoy to other SL clubs…

If he's their best player, then it explains why they're so poor. He's bang average and has looked worse than average this year. I'm curious what's gone wrong with Davy Litten. He seems overlooked this year, in place of Martin who's not impressed. He's surely a better option at full back too. Has he fallen out with Smith? FWIW their best player is Trueman, who is very injury prone -
Can’t imagine there’ll be too many takers. Castleford perhaps

Feels like a seminal moment in US RL history

I agree it’s obvious we miss Myler who strung our attack together and had been our best player in recent seasons. McDonnell is symptomatic of our forward issues. He’s a solid enough player but he doesn’t get through the line or make metres, neither does Bentley. Gannon is our only 2nd row who does and there’s real concern about him with his concussions. Fitzgibbon monstered us yesterday and merely highlighted how we lack quality 2nd rowers. We have too many similar forwards - Donaldson, O’Connor and Goudemand are all natural loose forwards yet none of them would get in over Smith. So we end up with square pegs in round holes. And all of those 3 are solid players but not of the quality to be challenging

Knowledgeable ones weren’t. Momorovski and Frawley were terrible signings, ordinary players. Roberts couldn’t get in Leigh’s side, McDonnell was released by Wigan. The squad is a mish mash of good and ordinary players, a totally new spine. We’ll be better than last year but our results are as expected
