John McKeown played twice for Town in their first season (1945-46)......Both being on the left wing. Firstly versus St.Helens , away, on 22/12/45. Then v Barrow at home on 26/12/45, he scored a try in that match. Therefore both, and his only Town appearances, were actually before Gus Risman joined Town. J.J. McKeown eventually joined Whitehaven in 1948, after two seasons with an amateur club. Towns most regular fullbacks in their first season,1945-46, were Messrs.Holding and Inglesfield. Then Gus Risman came to Town the following season.

I was just taking the pee re Jordan Weir mentioning it every time the guy touched the ball.

Just wondering......is Ryan King an "Italian International".......??????

1945 cup ?????????
-
Yep it was 6 times.....................4 league matches, plus Lancs cup and Challenge cup both at home. So six with only one win (Challenge cup tie).........happy days.

Different formats guys......not "simples" to me now.

Very........thanks a lot.

Can someone explain play offs pls?........is it top four, five, six? Whatever it will be a tough task from one of the lower positions which will most likely be an away trip? Although some clubs are equally as inconsistent as Town............Certainly Doncaster are hard to weigh up....beat us last week, signed some alleged top players during week, and lost at Crusaders today, what the heck?...If our large injury list can be repaired quickly play off success could be possible. Apart from Dewsbury going up I think Hunslet might now be a good bet to join them.

How do you make sense of today.....I mean I travelled thinking of no less than another two points for us today - our opponents having lost at home 10-41 last week. So surely Town, on a winning run, would be successful ?. Oh dear it's a funny old game for sure. The final 19-22 score-line gave a rather false impression of it being a close encounter - nope it really wasn't. Doncaster, especially in the second half. were dominant. And deserved to lead 7-22 as time was running out. Now those opening remarks are my honest views. But it hurts to write such stuff - so I'll scrape up few excuses for today's inept Town performance. i.e. a top player from recent Town wins withdrew following warm up injury, making a re-shuffle necessary. The ref, blimey was he wearing a red nose and yellow hat? I don't like to slag these guys off normally but oh dear this guy was awful today - no make that diabolical. One Donny try featured a two yard forward pass in the build up - how on earth did he miss that? The linesman - on pop side second half- responded to crowd calls - that is amateurish to say the least and needs him sorted. Connor Robinson, ok good player, but he goaded the popular siders persistently and should have been reprimanded for some of it. In conclusion - maybe it's too early for Town to think of promotion as yet. UTT.

1074 attendance announced.

He didn't score according to the RL Express report.......? ( two Ethan's in team though)...

Well most certainly the first half was as you describe.....I think the oppressive, very humid, weather has a negative effect on the players - yes of course that is the same for both teams. Town were guilty too often of losing possession. But Skolars were a much better outfit than previous visitors Cornwall - some big lads who showed decent commitment. I never heard Garry announce crowd but at a guess 500+.......not a disaster considering the obvious counterattractions.
-
Crowd was announced as 603, third time this season we've hit that same mark.
-
Yeah David according to Joe Holliday's big book Mark Lord cost Town £20,000 in 1991 - a sum which would have been less than vindicated by the players poor record.

"Town put a shed in the popular side"............I presume you mean the bar at the town end?. This brick built area was included into the stadium facility in 1956, i.e. right from the off as it were. Originally pies and oxo were sold...maybe alcohol needed another form of licensing? But not planning permission?
